> CERAMIC
Proper care, cleaning and maintenance will help ensure
your ceramic tile always looks its best, whether it's
on the floor, wall, or countertop. Simply follow our
maintenance and prevention steps outlined below.
Routine ceramic tile care and maintenance:
- Remove soil with a broom, non-oily dust mop or vacuum
- Damp mop or spot clean as necessary, using a pH neutral
tile cleaner or simply white vinegar and water (3 parts
water to 1 part vinegar).
- Thoroughly rinse all areas with clean, warm water.
- Ceramic tile floors, like other types of smooth floors,
can become slippery when wet. Allow time for floor to dry
after washing. Immediately wipe up wet areas from spills,
foreign substances or wet feet.
- We recommend protecting your floor against abrasive dirt
at entrances to buildings with dirt catching floor mats.
> AREA RUGS
- Do not place potted plants on top of your
rugs—watering
them repeatedly may cause damage.
- Vacuum your rugs regularly, paying special attention
to the fringe. And always vacuum in the rough or smooth
direction, not the nap. You can determine this by simply
brushing your hand across your rug.
- Even if your rug doesn’t look dirty,
it is. A professional cleaning is recommended every five
to seven years.
- Extend the life of your rug by rotating it 180 degrees
every year to even out the effects of sunlight and traffic.
- Should a spill occur, blot up as soon as
possible with a clean towel. Follow by blotting the area
with water or club soda to make sure everything is gone.
Then lift up your rug to allow air to circulate. It’s
important to note that excess water (moisture) will discolor
hardwood and cannot be corrected.
